About
Nana Akua Abookye VI, known in private life as Mrs. Felicia Abena Prempeh Sencherey, proudly serves as the reigning Queenmother of the Oguaa Traditional Area, a role steeped in centuries of cultural heritage and leadership. A proud daughter of the Cudjoe Ebiradze Royal Family, she is the niece of the late Queenmother, Nana Akua Abookye V, and has taken up the mantle to continue the legacy following her predecessor’s passing in 2019.
Rooted in the prestigious Abookye Royal House, Nana Akua Abookye VI comes from a lineage celebrated as the historic custodians of the Oguaa Queenmother stool, a symbol of authority and maternal guidance in the community. Upon her enstoolment, she swore a solemn traditional oath, vowing unwavering loyalty and dedication to the chiefs and the Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II. Their relationship, built on mutual respect and shared aspirations for the Oguaa people, forms the foundation of her reign.
Her ascension to this revered position was marked by a grand and spiritually significant outdooring ceremony, held at the sacred Papratem Shrine in Cape Coast on Saturday, May 28, 2022. Dressed in resplendent traditional regalia symbolizing the wisdom and power of her office, she was presented to the community amid drumming, dancing, and jubilant celebrations that united the people in honoring their new Queenmother.
Nana Akua Abookye VI brings a unique blend of modern expertise and traditional wisdom to her role. Before her enstoolment, she built an impressive career as a certified Nursing Assistant in the United States, demonstrating compassion, discipline, and a deep commitment to service—qualities that now enrich her leadership. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she is a devoted wife to Mr. John Prempeh Sencherey and a nurturing mother to four daughters, embodying the values of family and community.
With a vision rooted in preserving cultural heritage while embracing progress, Nana Akua Abookye VI stands as a beacon of hope and resilience, ready to guide the Oguaa Traditional Area toward a future filled with unity, prosperity, and pride.
